Interview with Savannah Mae

SAVANNAH MAE AUTHOR INTERVIEW

SC: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I’m Savannah Mae. I’m new to self-publishing, but not new to writing professionally. For the last decade, I’ve been writing articles for multiple publications and for websites. I’ve always toyed with the idea of writing a book but pushed the thought out of my head. Earlier this year, I turned forty and declared that this year of my life would be a year of saying no to fear. I did what I thought was impossible and started writing cozy mysteries.

SC: Was there a certain time in your life you knew you wanted to write?

I don’t recall any specific moment when I realized I’d wanted to write. I do, however, remember each and every time I convinced myself otherwise. Intuitively, I think I always believed it would happen someday.

SC: What are you currently working on?

I’m working on the second book in my Jinx Cove witches series. The first book is included in this 25-novel bundle.

NOOK SALES LINK: http://bit.ly/2fV07NR

KOBO SALES LINK:  https://store.kobobooks.com/…/25-mysteries-to-die-for-a-25-…

We have yet to get the Apple link and the Amazon link will only be available on the publication date, 27 December 2016.

SC: Of the books you’ve written, which one is your favorite and why?

My favorite is the only one I’ve completed thus far, Mayhem in Jinx Cove. I’ve probably read it a dozen times or more. I’m proud of what I’ve created and hope readers enjoy it.

SC: What books have most influenced you as a writer?

I love mysteries. When I was growing up, the Nancy Drew series and the Hardy Boys series were staples on my bookshelves. I read them over and over again.

SC: What do you find to be the most challenging part of writing? And the most rewarding?

The most challenging part for me was working up the courage to let others read it. Handing it off to beta readers and editors was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done.

The most rewarding part is the process. I loved getting out of my daily routine and letting my imagination run wild.

SC: What book is on your nightstand?

I’m currently rereading Sue Grafton’s Kinsey Millhone’s Alphabet Series.

SC: What can we look forward to seeing from you in the future?

In 2017, I plan on releasing the next two novels in my series.

SC: Is there anything you’d like to share with your readers?

I want to thank them for taking the time to get to know me and I hope they’ll love Mayhem in Jinx Cove as much as I do.

Interview with Siboney Webber one of the Authors featured in #25KillerCozies

siboney-webber-author-pic

SIBONEY WEBBER AUTHOR INTERVIEW

SC: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I’m a multi-genre writer. I’ve been writing paranormal romance and romantic thrillers under a pseudonym for three years but decided it was time to branch out and write the kind of books I loved to read when I was a teenager.

I live just outside of New York City with my teenage daughter and our bulldog, Chubby. I’m a former psychiatric nurse.

teaser-image-for-facebook-and-twitter-box-set-cover-general-_now-available-to-pre-order_-no-outlets-stated-yellow-and-red-1

SC: Was there a certain time in your life you knew you wanted to write?

I was the kid who always had a story to tell. I loved writing. I devoured books and spent more time with my nose in a book than I did doing anything else. I don’t remember a specific event or time. I think it was just a given that I’d someday write for a living. I’m so tickled that I get to do that now.

SC: What are you currently working on?

I’m deep in research for my next books. Both will be released next year.

SC: Of the books you’ve written, which one is your favorite and why?

I must say, it’s my cozy. It was such a hoot to write. I absolutely love all the characters I created.

SC: What books have most influenced you as a writer?

I’ve read thousands of books in my lifetime. I think the books that still resonate with me are those I never thought I’d read. I was an Oprah’s Book Club devotee. The books I read thus made me think and see beyond my small corner of the world. Every book on that list has stayed with me.

SC: What do you find to be the most challenging part of writing? And the most rewarding?

The most challenging part was allowing myself to write without overthinking it. The most rewarding is the act of writing itself. I love getting lost in a story.

SC: What book is on your nightstand?

Currently, I’m rereading the classics with members of a book club I belong to. We’re reading To Kill a Mockingbird.

SC: What can we look forward to seeing from you in the future?

As mentioned, I plan on writing two new books this coming year. I already have two others written and edited that will be released next year as well.

SC: Is there anything you’d like to share with your readers?

If you’re a fan of quirky characters with a dash of sass and a spoonful of gumption, you’ll love my Down-Home Cozy Mysteries.

AUTHOR BIO

Some kids want to grow up to be rock stars. Siboney Webber never wanted to grow up. She lived in a world filled with every book she could get her hands on. She’d dream of sitting at a 1929 Underwood Standard No. 3 typewriter and spending her days and nights writing the next great novel, but then life happened.

A twenty-five-year career as a psychiatric nurse in a New York hospital gave her plenty of fodder for future novels, but there was never enough time in her day to execute her plan. After 9/11, Siboney vowed to never make excuses again and put pen to paper. Now, she writes cozy mysteries and maintains a romantic thriller catalog of 16+ titles under a pseudonym.

So far, I’ve written romance under the pen name Grae Lily and now that I’m venturing into cosy mystery territory, my author name will be ‘Grae Lily writing as Siboney Webber’. To check out my other titles, visit me at the links.

ANNE R TAN AUTHOR INTERVIEW

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I love to read more than write. I have to set up hard deadlines with preorders to motivate myself to write. If left on my own, I would rather spend my writing time on “research,” which basically is reading books in my favorite genres.

Rafferty Mystery The Hanging Tree #4, at 99c / 99p for two days only

the-hanging-tree-low-resolution-cover-51j48dusg1l

‘Terrific series.’ #4 in the Rafferty & Llewellyn mystery series.

I’m offering another of my mystery novels at the bargain price of 99c / 99p, for two days only, the 12/13 November 2016.

‘A great book. A wonderfully entertaining read.’

A Little Laughter. A Little Mayhem. A Little MURDER…

‘The old crossroads used to run by here,’ Sam told Rafferty. ‘Legend has it that this was the original Hanging Tree.’

The murder mystery of ‘The Hanging Man’, whose body disappears just before Christmas, and then turns up again, suspended from the ancient ‘Hanging Tree’, has Essex Detective Joe Rafferty questioning his belief in justice and his own role in its pursuit.

Rafferty knows he is expected to go after the murderer with as much vigor as he would any other killer. But he is in danger of becoming his own worse adversary as the victim was a man who escaped jail on a legal technicality after being accused of four child rapes. The case was a cause-célébre and caused much ill-feeling in Elmhurst’s community. In this police procedural, Rafferty must battle against the inner conviction that Maurice Smith – a man who ruined more than just his young victims’ lives – fully deserved to be murdered. He feels that if there is a self-appointed executioner at work, meting out his own form of justice on the legendary Hanging Tree, then Smith’s ‘executioner’ is more to be lauded than condemned.

Consequently, rather less than full of the Christmas Spirit as the Big Day approaches, Rafferty can only wish he hadn’t opened his big mouth and invited his partner, Dafyd Llewellyn’s mother to both his Ma’s spare room and the Rafferty clan’s festive meal. Because, from his own intuition and Llewellyn’s ever more dour expression as his mother’s arrival gets closer, he has reason to believe the wretched woman’s visit is going to end in disaster. And not just for Llewellyn’s burgeoning romantic relationship with Maureen.

Rafferty fears he is about to become the Fall Guy twice over. Because he is only too aware that if he fails to find the murderer because of his own repugnance for the victim, he will also fail as a detective and his moral dilemma will give him no option but to resign.

There are seventeen books in the Rafferty & Llewellyn series:
Dead Before Morning #1
Down Among the Dead Men #2
Death Line #3
The Hanging Tree #4
Absolute Poison #5
Dying For You #6
Bad Blood #7
Love Lies Bleeding #8
Blood on the Bones #9
A Thrust to the Vitals #10
All the Lonely People #11
Death Dance #12
Death Dues #13

Ava Mallory is the amazing woman who organised all the authors who feature in this book. Organising authors – not a job for faint hearts. I think she’s really Wonder Woman!

She’s also a woman of mystery, hence her author pic!

Anyway, here’s Ava’s interview. Come back tomorrow, and I’ll have another featured author rounded up!

AVA MALLORY AUTHOR INTERVIEW

SC: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

My name is Ava Mallory. I like to call myself a genre hoarder. Primarily, I write cozy mysteries, but because you can never have too many mysteries in life, I also write psychological thrillers and romantic thrillers.

Prior to writing full-time, I’ve worn many hats. I was a hospice nurse for twenty years while also raising children, chauffeuring children to activities, volunteering as a child advocate, and sub-contracting as a copywriter for a small publishing house.

Since I became a full-time writer, my life hasn’t changed much. I basically still do all of the above, but this go around, I do it in my pajamas. (Don’t tell my children that! J)

SC: Was there a certain time in your life you knew you wanted to write?

When I was 4 years old, my mother took my younger brother and I to a Storytime activity at our neighborhood library. I don’t know if that was the first time we’d gone or just the most memorable time. When the librarian walked in the room with a book in hand (a Dick and Jane book, if I recall correctly), I knew right then and there that I would grow up to be a writer.

As is often the case, life had other plans for me. I veered this way and that and found a long-time career as a hospice nurse, but I never once lost sight of my goal to become a full-time writer.

SC: What are you currently working on?

I always have several projects going at once. I’m editing the next book in one of cozy mystery series now. I plan on publishing it in January. I’m also outlining a new novel for my thriller series and developing a new cozy mystery series to be released next fall.

SC: Of the books you’ve written, which one is your favorite and why?

I absolutely adore my Mercy & Mayhem novel. It’s the first in my A Mercy Mares cozy mystery series. It’s the most personal of my novels. Each character is loosely based on people I’ve met and/or worked with in my life.

SC: What books have most influenced you as a writer?

I’m an eclectic reader. The books that have influenced me most are To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, I Know This Much is True by Wally Lamb, Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier, most of Agatha Christie’s works, and most recently, books by Emma Donoghue.

SC: What do you find to be the most challenging part of writing? And the most rewarding?

The most challenging part of writing for me is conquering my own fear. I think we all deal with fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of being exposed. The most rewarding is finishing any project. Typing The End still makes me giddy every single time.

SC: What book is on your nightstand?

(1.) The Silent Witness by Brittainy C. Cherry (2.) Evelyn, After by Victoria Helen Stone

SC: What can we look forward to seeing from you in the future?

I plan on releasing three new cozy novels in the coming year. One will be the second book in my paranormal cozy mystery series and the other two will be new novels in my A Mercy Mares series.

I also write psychological thrillers under a pseudonym. I’ll have three releases for that pen name next year as well.

SC: Is there anything you’d like to share with your readers?

I’m thankful for each and every reader. Knowing that someone has read my work means the world to me. I love interacting with them and receiving feedback from them. I cannot wait to share new works with them and some fun perks for newsletter subscribers.

NOTE:

I have three titles in the box set. One is a short prequel to my A Mercy Mares series. The next is the first novel in that series and the other is the first in my paranormal cozy mystery series. I’ve attached cover images for each.
